There are three mountain groups around Königsleiten: The gentle Kitzbühler Alpen, the Hohen Tauern and the Zillertaler Alpen. So there is a wealth of possibilities. You can choose between easy and short hikes, half day hikes and extended mountain tours. All the trails are well marked and signed. Guiding maps and mountaineering schools are on site.
The Kitzbühler Alpen
or also the "Pinzgauer Grasberge" are rather gentle and go up to 2200 m above sea level. Since we are already at 1600 meters , even summit hikes here can be declined as "easy". Furthermore, our mountain railways can of course be used as climbing aids. With the Free Mountain Card you can use the mountain railways in Königsleiten and Gerlos free of charge. In Königsleiten you can find the Königsleiten Bergbahnen. 10 min further on the Isskogelbahn in Gerlos. In Neukirchen am Großvenediger (25 min away) you´ll find the Wildkogelbahnen.
The Zillertaler Alpen
Who doesn´t know it, the Zillertal? Worldfamous for it´s mountains and also for all of their folk music groups. Well known places like Mayrhofen or Tux are just around the corner. The next entry into the Zillertaler Alpen is already in Gerlos - the "Schönachtal". a tranquil alpine valley with cows and huts to stop off at, which also can be explored with a stroller.
The Hohen Tauern
the synonym in Austria for our national park. The Nationalpark Hohe Tauern exists since 1986 and combines 3 counties out of 9. The part of the county Salzburg starts right here with us in Königsleiten. What the Nationalpark has to offer is simply said very impressive. Nearly for each side valley and summit hikes there are offered several guided tours. Accompanied by a Nationalpark - Ranger that truly is a very special experience. Also the highest mountain of Salzburg, the Großvenediger is situated here. Other highlights for a special hike are for example the highest waterfalls in Europe - the Krimmler Wasserfälle, our "valley of emeralds" – the Habachtal or the "show mine" in the Untersulzbach valley.
