On a sunny plateau 1,600 meters above sea level between Tyrol and Salzburg lies the village Königsleiten. It is surrounded by the Kitzbühel Alps in the north and the Hohe Tauern mountains in the south and the Zillertal Alps in the west. Thanks to its southern orientation, Königsleiten has a lot of sun the whole winter.
Due to its snow safety, you really can ski to your hotels door. The numerous pistes of the ski area Zillertal Arena can be reached by walking. Other skiing areas are nearby, like the family skiing area Wildkogel, the large area of Kitzbühel or the Mayrhofen region are just 30 minutes away.
Cross-country skiers will find numerous charming trails through snowy winter woods or can ski into the valleys of Hohe Tauern. Our longest trail is the "Pinzga Loipe" (200 km) running along the river Salzach.
Winter walks or snowshoe hiking offer more intense experience of nature, because you also can move away from the crowded spots. You can participate in guided snowshoe walks, or make an safari on your own.
Especially, with the longest toboggan run in the world at Wildkogel (14 km ), the region has now also become a good spot for tobogganing . In addition to the "big ones" there are also many smaller toboggan runs, which are s free of charge.
