With an impressive drop of 380 m, the Krimml Waterfalls are the fifth highest waterfalls in the world. With around 350,000 visitors per year, they are among the most visited sights in Austria. The waterfalls can be reached within 10 min per car from our hotel.
Vacation from allergy
Scientific research at the Krimml Waterfalls suggests that spending time in the surrounding area may help relieve symptoms of allergic asthma. The fine mist created by the waterfalls is thought to play a key role. When the water hits the rocks with great force, negatively charged, breathable water particles in the nanometre range are created, known as nano- or waterfall aerosols. Due to their tiny size, these particles can penetrate deep into the respiratory tract, where they are believed to have cleansing and immunomodulatory effects.

Hiking at the Krimml Waterfall

Start at Car Park 4 – from here, it’s about a 20-minute walk to the first waterfall.

Three spectacular cascades with a total vertical drop of 380 metres.

Scenic viewpoints along the trail offer beautiful views of the waterfalls and the surrounding landscape.

Stop for refreshments at Gasthaus Schönangerl, located at the second waterfall and well known for its fresh trout. The walk takes about 1 hour.

After the third waterfall (around 1.5–2 hours), the valley opens up and the trail continues along the Krimmler Ache through the alpine landscape of the Hohe Tauern National Park.
How to Get There
From July to early September, our free hiking bus takes you directly to the Krimml Waterfalls. By car, it takes around 10 minutes from Biohotel Castello.
